Do you ever imagine there's another world running right beside ours?

βWhy donβt we put this in?" A woman speaks, her voice smooth, almost affectionate.
βNah, thatβs too overpowered. Letβs add something different. Somethingβ¦ darker.β Then, a manβs voice interrupts, firm and unyielding.
βHey! Why donβt we make him a vampire?β The womanβs voice perks up, excited.
A chill goes through me. Make what! vampire? Who! Me?! Whatβwhat are they talking about?
The man lets out a skeptical grunt. βA vampire? Sure, thatβs interesting, but it's too OP. Let's add something to balance it.β
βOkay, okay,β she says, her tone still light, as though designing some casual new toy. βBut letβs change the speciesβno blood-sucking from humans. Itβs been done to death, too clichΓ© right?β
Blood-sucking? Humans? My mind spins. Are they actually talking about turning me into⦠some kind of creature?
βWell,β the man chuckles, βthereβs plenty else he could prey on in this world, isnβt there? Weβll give him something else to feed on.β
The voices continue, completely oblivious to my horror. I lie helpless, only able to listen as they throw around options, shaping me, deciding my fate. My heartβif I even have oneβpounds in the emptiness. I canβt see, move, or speak. But in their hands, Iβm becoming something, one twisted decision at a time.
