Do you ever imagine there's another world running right beside ours?

โWhy donโt we put this in?" A woman speaks, her voice smooth, almost affectionate.
โNah, thatโs too overpowered. Letโs add something different. Somethingโฆ darker.โ Then, a manโs voice interrupts, firm and unyielding.
โHey! Why donโt we make him a vampire?โ The womanโs voice perks up, excited.
A chill goes through me. Make what! vampire? Who! Me?! Whatโwhat are they talking about?
The man lets out a skeptical grunt. โA vampire? Sure, thatโs interesting, but it's too OP. Let's add something to balance it.โ
โOkay, okay,โ she says, her tone still light, as though designing some casual new toy. โBut letโs change the speciesโno blood-sucking from humans. Itโs been done to death, too clichรฉ right?โ
Blood-sucking? Humans? My mind spins. Are they actually talking about turning me intoโฆ some kind of creature?
โWell,โ the man chuckles, โthereโs plenty else he could prey on in this world, isnโt there? Weโll give him something else to feed on.โ
The voices continue, completely oblivious to my horror. I lie helpless, only able to listen as they throw around options, shaping me, deciding my fate. My heartโif I even have oneโpounds in the emptiness. I canโt see, move, or speak. But in their hands, Iโm becoming something, one twisted decision at a time.
